Paul Walker - Visual Artist
The beauty of nature reflected in art is just another reminder of our need to protect it
229 Odds Drive
Restoule, ON P0H 2R0
As with most artists, Paul Walker has had a love for drawing and art work from a very early age. He made a start into the artistic world when he took Architecture for a year at the University of Waterloo in 1968 / 69. However, he switched to Engineering and life got in the way of any serious art work. Realizing that he wanted something to do upon retirement and encouraged by his
his wife Glenna, Paul revived his interest in art and took drawing, watercolour and acrylic painting courses at Mohawk College and the Dundas School of art in Hamilton. At about the same time (2002), Paul and Glenna bought a cottage in Restoule with the idea of moving there permanently some time in the future. That move took place in 2008 and Paul now has his studio in the loft above the garage.
Paul is a realist artist who does pen and ink drawings and paints in acrylic and watercolour. His subjects include a wide variety from trips he and Glenna have taken and from scenes close to home. Paul's architectural interests show up in paintings of buildings and cities, but he also has done several landscapes and wildlife paintings. Portraits of animals, people and houses are also included. He will take on just about any subject and commissions are welcome. Paul has displayed work in galleries in Hamilton and North Bay and won best in show at the recent Beautiful View of Friendship Showing at the WKP Kennedy Gallery in North Bay.
Visit Paul in his studio throughout the year (yes, he and Glenna winter in Restoule) by chance or by appointment. Take highway 534 off of highway 11 to Restoule. Cross the one lane bridge and take the first right turn onto Lakeview. The third road on the right is Odds Drive - #229, almost at the end of the road.
