The beauty of nature reflected in art is just another reminder of our need to protect it
My home for all but three years of my life has been the Almaguin Highlands. I have deep roots in Algonquin Park, farm life and the wilderness. Although my chosen profession was teaching in the elementary school system, early in my career my life's turns found me raising a family of three as a full-time mom.
Painting began as a sweet diversion more than forty years ago and rekindled a life-long love. It has remained a constant since those early night school classes of 1968. Through the years, I have benefited from private lessons, college courses, workshops and input from the many fine artists I have met. Most of what I have learned is a result of the need to share my love of the area.
As a member of the Burks Falls Arts and Crafts Club for more than 20 years, I place a great deal of importance on the motivation and support the Club provides.
In 1997, I opened the Woodland Studio Gallery in South River and enjoyed 5 wonderful years selling original works of local artists and teaching art to children and adults. My return to my home studio is an effort to focus on the next step in the "journey".
I paint landscapes in oil, acrylic and soft pastel and do some commissions. Wildlife and horses are subject that surface quite often.
In this world with all its problems, I feel so grateful that as an artist I can see the beauty, the peace, the harmony, the strength, and I can attempt to share it with anyone.
"Find solace in the beauty and power of creation."
